Join printmaker and photographer Ray Bidegain for a 2-day workshop in polymer plate photogravure. During this workshop you will learn how to print your original photographs using the timeless process of Photogravure. Learn to etch photopolymer plates using the DTP method of imaging and processing. Once made you will learn to ink your plate with traditional etching inks and print them using my Takach etching press. Needed materials will be supplied and students will leave the session with small editions of handmade polymer plate photogravures. Class is limited to 4 students, lunch will be provided.
Topics to be covered:

Direct to plate positives - during this workshop you will be producing digital files as positives and afterword using epson printers to image polymer plates to be processed trimmed and readied for printing.

Exposing and developing the polymer plates.

Inks and materials needed for printmaking

Inking and wiping the plates

Paper selection

Printing the inked plates on a Takach etching press.

Finishing and presentation of the final prints.

Class limited to 4 students
My schedule is flexible and I can offer sessions weekdays as well as weekends. Once you have signed up for the session we can look at our calendars and choose dates to work together.
