Historically platinum prints were made from large format negatives, rich with detail and subtle beauty.  Spend the day working with Ray Bidegain to learn the wonderful process of platinum printing directly from your large format negatives. Hand made platinum prints are beautiful and highly regarded art objects with a long history.
Starting with a sheet of 100% cotton paper we will hand coat the paper with an emulsion of light-sensitive platinum/palladium metals. Negatives are printed in contact with the coated sheet and tray developed.  The resulting prints are a joy to make and absolutely beautiful. We will spend time learning about how to create film negatives through exposure and development that will print well in platinum.  Students will need a selection of film negatives to work with, Ray will have suggestions for what to look for in the negatives you have for this new process.
