My book project has a life of its own

My book project has a life of its own

As I am working on my current handmade book Prague I find myself discovering and learning new things everyday and I love it.  It has made keeping up with my deadline not so easy but as one of my friends said to me " it is your book it will be ready when you are finished making it your way". The latest addition to the design I have been learning to make is Suminagashi; Japanese paper marbling.  I am making these sheets to be the inside covers for the Prague books. This along with the printmaking, letterpress printing, binding and case work is rewarding.  I am grateful and lucky.

All of us who make art know this, I'm not pretending to be unique in these feelings. This is my point, I do think that sometimes we forget how much joy making these objects can set free. Once we forget then sometimes it can be hard to start, we get "blocked" or " don't feel inspired" don't feel like we have time. These are real feelings don't get me wrong, my suggestion to you is to give yourself permission and make something today. I promise that once you start, the work will come to life and grow into an object you will be happy to have made.  It may even feel like it has a life of it own.
