Across the River and into the Trees

For me, this work is a window that connects to the world on the other side. I sometimes stare at this photo hanging on the wall of the room. I feel the flow of air and eternity in silence. I listen to Ray's rich, silent world.

This is a beautiful print that I am so happy to add to my collection. Ray creates jewels, and that is exactly what this is, a perfect example of the ability of a talented and mature master printer. There is absolutely nothing in the world of photography that compares to a fine print from a great printer. Mr. Bidegain richly exemplifies that.

Beautiful Sauvie Island Trees

5 Trees Sauvie Island is a wonderful delight in its classic style. We ordered ours in the black walnut frame, which sets off the lovely warm tones in the image.

I feel like I could walk into the image, cross the grassy savanna, and stand in the shade of these mighty oaks.

It takes pride of place in our home.

Five Trees Sauvie Island

This print has been one of my favorites for a while. I love the warm tones of the platinum palladium print, the balanced composition and open space of the photo. It is finished nicely with the matting and oak frame that enhances the tones of the print. The print also reminds me of photography trips to the island.

How are the platinum prints presented.

All prints are shipped in white rag 4-ply mats sized 14x17 and 11x14 depending on print size

I think a simple wooden frame is always best

Most often work by printmakers is displayed utilizing a float frame technique available from most custom frame shops.

About Ray Bidegain

One Photographers Journey

For the last 22 years I have been lucky enough to spend my time working as a fine art photographer, and specifically working as a photographer who photographed using large format negatives and made platinum prints from the camera negatives.

The platinum period

Many of you have collected these platinum prints over the years and some of you have learned platinum printing from me along the way. I love the process and I have loved every minute of this period in my work. Platinum printing is an amazing and beautiful way to make photographs.

The Gravures

For the last five years I have started working on making photogravure prints, polymer plate photogravure prints, to be specific. I worked on it, decided I wanted to make a change and make a commitment to working as a printmaker making photogravure prints. You all know me as a person who likes handmade photography. Handmade objects are at the heart of my photographic journey and printmaking is all of that, and more.

The Cascabel Press Studio

My darkroom and printmaking studio

for the last 32 years I have worked in the cozy basement of my 110 year old home in Portland Oregon. Your fine prints are made here and are a product of my love of photography and art.

My backyard daylight studio

Where I make pictures

for the last several years I have been making my work in a small daylight studio in my backyard.
