Art and science of platinum printing private workshop

$650.00
Spend One, Two or Three days working with Ray Bidegain to learn the wonderful process of platinum printing. Hand made platinum prints are beautiful and highly regarded art objects with a long history.  Starting with a sheet of 100% cotton paper we will hand coat the paper with an emulsion of light-sensitive platinum/palladium metals. Negatives are printed in contact with the coated sheet and tray developed.  The resulting prints are a joy to make and absolutely beautiful.  Because it is a contact process we will be working with either large-format negatives or enlarged digital negatives from files or scans.

During the class we will cover:
  • Paper selection

  • Hand coating techniques

  • Creation of digital negatives

  • Darkroom technique for tailoring your camera negatives for the process.

  • Exposure and development of prints

  • Equipment needs for a home darkroom

  • Final presentation and display

My schedule is flexible and I can offer sessions weekdays as well as weekends. Once you have signed up for the session we can look at our calendars and choose dates to work together.

Covid vaccinations and masks will be required for workshops and mentorships
