As I begin to make new work after this past year of not photographing much I was thinking about the weight of the world, known and unknown, and how to embrace it all. I did want my picture to be too heavy and brooding but instead mysterious and honest. When I showed this gravure print to a fellow artist she said " El Mundo" and it felt perfect.
This hand-pulled polymer photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Noir RSR black and warm sepia inks, on Rives BFK paper. I decided on a chine collé with Gampi Kitaka. and an edition of 11 numbered prints and 2 A/P prints. I made this image small (4x5) on a large sheet (11x15) to continue with the concept of the original idea.
