Summer workshops at Cascabel Press

Summer workshops at Cascabel Press

Summer is almost here in Portland, Oregon, the home of Cascabel Press studio. A big part of my practice as an artist revolves around education, and summer is often the time when artists come to Portland to study with me. I am grateful for this because I love teaching; a part of me knows that showing other people how things work is what I do best. This is not just me patting myself on the back; I truly love it, and I strive to create a successful session with each of the students who come to work with me. I will share everything I know with you, straight from my heart, and promise a good time while we are at work.

I currently have sessions listed for Polymer Photogravure printmaking, Letterpress printing to make broadsides, and hourly mentoring for folks who want some guidance in their journey as an artist.

I am curious to know from y’all what workshops you think would be cool that I don’t currently offer?  I would love to design a new workshop around the idea of a project. Maybe you want to make a handmade book with letterpress and photographs, or hand-bind some small journals with a stitched binding and fancy paper cover. How about some clamshell boxes with photographs and a letterpress colophon? Or try your hand at copperplate etching, my new favorite medium?

Let me know what you are wanting to learn about, or join one of my current sessions. If you like working with a friend, reach out, and I can set something up for 2 people to work together. What are you dreaming about? Let’s talk.

Be well,

Ray
