Art and science of platinum printing private workshop for One or Two students

Spend One, Two or Three days working with Ray Bidegain to learn the wonderful process of platinum printing. Hand made platinum prints are beautiful and highly regarded art objects with a long history.  Starting with a sheet of 100% cotton paper we will hand coat the paper with an emulsion of light-sensitive platinum/palladium metals. Negatives are printed in contact with the coated sheet and tray developed.  The resulting prints are a joy to make and absolutely beautiful.  Because it is a contact process we will be working with either large-format negatives or enlarged digital negatives from files or scans.
Have an artist friend join you in your private training. If you have a friend you would like to learn this process with you in this training they can join for an additional fee of $ 200.00 for materials and time. Use the link below to add the fees.
During the class we will cover:
  • Paper selection

  • Hand coating techniques

  • Creation of digital negatives

  • Darkroom technique for tailoring your camera negatives for the process.

  • Exposure and development of prints

  • Equipment needs for a home darkroom

  • Final presentation and display
